As an MCO, you'll help ensure this information is accurate, reliable, high quality and fit for purpose.
You'll also contribute to the wider Northern Ireland Mapping Agreement, GI Strategy for Northern Ireland and UK Geospatial Strategy.
Work with Data that Matters
As a Mapping and Charting Officer, you'll contribute to the delivery of authoritative geospatial data and mapping services for Northern Ireland.
You'll use your knowledge of geographic information, digital mapping, spatial databases, GIS and surveying to capture, maintain, analyse and present high-quality geospatial data.

The Selection Process

Eligibility
The MCO grade is a mobile grade, meaning you may be offered or transferred to an MCO post elsewhere in Northern Ireland. Your location will be confirmed if you receive an offer.
The role also requires access to transport to enable you to fulfil your responsibilities.

GIS & digital mapping
Using geographic information systems and digital mapping tools to capture, edit, analyse and maintain data.
Surveying
Planning and undertaking topographical land surveys using technologies including GPS, Total Station/EDM and mobile survey devices.
Spatial data
Work with spatial databases, data modelling and geospatial technologies to maintain and develop datasets.
Cartography
Using cartographic skills to manipulate digital data and create accurate mapping products.
3D & aerial data
Work with digital elevation models, point clouds, 3D models, aerial photography and orthophotography to create accurate, geospatial information.
Remote sensing & geospatial technology
Using modern geospatial technologies and techniques to capture and interpret geographic information.
