About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
NICS Internal Audit Services is a professional internal audit and investigation service within the Department of Finance.
The service provides assurance, consulting and investigative services to NICS departments, agencies and other arm’s-length bodies.
As an Internal Auditor, you'll become part of a professional team working across different organisations and environments throughout Northern Ireland.
As an Internal Auditor – Staff Officer, you will report to an Audit Manager or Head of Internal Audit.

The Selection Process
Applications will first be assessed against the eligibility criteria.
Relevant or equivalent qualifications will be considered.
Eligibility
All applicants must meet the relevant nationality and right-to-work requirements for appointment to the Northern Ireland Civil Service.
All external applicants will be subject to nationality validation.
Appointments are also subject to the required security and vetting arrangements.
The initial level of vetting required for this post is a Basic Check. However, because successful candidates may work within organisations including prison and police establishments, candidates must be willing to apply for a higher level of vetting, including Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) or Security Check (SC) where required.

Planning and assessing risk
Plan programmes of internal audit engagements, identifying and assessing key risks and agreeing the Terms of Reference for each audit assignment.
Evaluating internal controls
Record, evaluate and test risk management and internal control processes using appropriate audit skills, techniques and professional judgement.
Working with management
Agree audit findings, conclusions and recommendations with management, helping organisations understand and respond to identified issues.
Reporting findings
Formally report audit findings and opinions to audit clients, providing clear and objective assurance.
Providing advice
Assist Audit Managers and Heads of Internal Audit in providing consulting services, including advice and guidance to help management improve risk management, control and governance.
Supporting improvement
Contribute to system development work and other relevant duties as required.

A salary of £41,272 – £42,570, with pay progression within the scale performance related.
